Tū Manawa Active Aotearoa is an activation fund that supports tamariki (5-11yrs), rangatahi (12-18yrs) and tāngata whaikaha (5-24) particularly those that are less active, to access quality play, active recreation and sport opportunities of their choice in their community, school or kura.
We know from research that there are some groups who are more at risk of missing out or being less active, including those living with a disability, in higher deprivation communities and girls and young women. Programmes or projects that reach these groups will be prioritised for funding. These priority groups are:
- Children and young people (5-18) in higher deprivation communities
- Girls and young women (5-18)
- Disabled children and young people (5-18)
