TŪ MANAWA ACTIVE AOTEAROA
Sport Waitākere is proud to be partnering with Aktive to manage Tū Manawa Active Aotearoa on behalf of Sport NZ in West Auckland.
WHAT IS THE TŪ MANAWA ACTIVE AOTEAROA FUND?
Tū Manawa Active Aotearoa provides funding for programmes or projects delivering play, active recreation and sport experiences for tamariki and rangatahi. These may be new or already operating.
We know from research that there are some groups who are more at risk of missing out or being less active, including those living with a disability, in higher deprivation communities and girls and young women. Programmes or projects that reach these groups will be prioritised for funding. These priority groups are:
We welcome applications from a wide range of groups and organisations.
BEFORE STARTING YOUR APPLICATION PLEASE REVIEW THE FOLLOWING
WHAT CAN BE FUNDED?

WHAT WILL NOT BE FUNDED?
The fund does not cover:
• Costs that are not directly required for the provision of the activity that you are applying for (such as salaries or wages for existing staff, administrative overheads etc)
• Costs that are already funded by other sources
• Costs of retrospective projects or activities (those that have already been completed or held)
• Costs associated with professional athletes, professional sports teams, academies, or representative teams
• Capital costs (e.g. facility development and maintenance, playgrounds) • Medals, prizes, giveaways, and spot prizes
Aktive, CLM Community Sport, Harbour Sport, Sport Auckland and Sport Waitākere understand that the recent Covid-19 outbreak may have an impact on your organisation’s ability to generate income at the level you may require to cover your day-to-day costs.
Tū Manawa Active Aotearoa provides funding for quality play, active recreation and sport opportunities and experiences for tamariki (children aged 5-11) and rangatahi (young people aged 12-18). It is particularly focused on groups that are less active and supporting them to participate by overcoming barriers such as deprivation and accessibility. The fund is intended to help cover the costs that are directly associated with the delivery of the activity.
The Tū Manawa Active Aotearoa fund does not cover the cost of organisation subscriptions, membership fees or planned/rescheduled event entry fees. Costs that are not directly required for the provision of the activity such as day-to-day operational costs, rent, power and overheads also do not come under what can be funded.
If further financial support becomes available for the play, active recreation and sport sector, we will share information as soon as we are able.

DRAFT APPLICATION RESOURCES
We've created some resources to help you with the application process.
If you would like to find out if your project idea is suitable for Tū Manawa Active Aotearoa, we invite you to complete an expression of interest. This requires you to answer a couple of quick questions and summarise what your project/activity is about, who will be involved and how much you are seeking from the Tū Manawa Active Aotearoa fund.
We will provide feedback on what you have submitted and an indication of further work that may be required before a full application should be forwarded for consideration. Please be aware that support for your application or an acknowledgement that your application is ready to progress, is no guarantee that your application will be approved.
You are welcome to apply now if you are confident that your activity or project meets the requirements of the fund and the expectations of the organisation that is administering it.
Please ensure that you clear your cache (history) and you are using Google Chrome to complete the application.
