Kiwisport is a national initative that was launched on the 11th August 2009 by Prime Minister John Key.

Kiwisport has very specific purposes:

• To increase the number of school-age children participating in organised sport – during school, after school and by strengthening links with sports clubs;
• To increase the availability and accessibility of sport opportunities for all school-aged children to participate in organised sport; and
• To support children in developing skills that will enable them to participate effectively in organised sport.

Kiwisport will see $82 million invested into sport for school aged children nationally spread over the next 4 years. This money is made up of 2 funds the Direct Fund ($45 million) which is paid to directly to schools as part of their operational grant and the Regional Partnership fund ($37 million) which will be paid to initiatives involving clubs, schools and community groups to support sport for school-aged children managed by the 17 Regional Sports Trusts.

Sport Waitakere will be responsible for the management of $275,000 of the Regional Partnership Fund (RPF). Please read the below documents for more information.
