Active Movement in Water Workshop

Parents/Caregivers bring along your 6 – 36 month old child for a fun filled morning of water exploration and fun. Gillian Candy from Swimming New Zealand will present a 1hour workshop covering different games and activities that you can do with your child at home in the water. A swim school, will then provide a introductory swimming lesson at session 2.

‘Active Movement in Water’ uses water as a medium to explore the challenges and experiences of ‘Active Movement’ at home, in the bath, shower or paddling pool and at the swimming pool 

Session 1: 1st March 2010 – 10.00am to 11am

Introduction to Brain Gym

Janet de Witt is an educator who has worked at all levels of education with extensive and recent experience in special education. As a registered Brain Gym® Instructor, she has taught Brain Gym® movements to hundreds of educators who adapt the movements to their situations.
Brain Gym® resources available at additional cost.

Brain Gym® movements link the development of early physical skills to subsequent coordination and academic learning skills.
Course will cover
• PACE a 5 min readiness routine.
• Brain Gym movements to develop midline skills
• Adaptations and fun music and movement ideas using Brain Gym®.
• Overview of developmental levels and skills needed for academic learning
• Brief overview of un-integrated developmental movement patterns and what to look for.

When: 3rd March 2010 – 9.00am to 12 noon
