As part of the RST Alliance vision of regional collaboration and participation in sport and physical
activity, the four Auckland based Regional Sports Trusts (Sport Waitakere, Harbour Sport, Sport Auckland and Counties Manukau Sport) submitted a joint bid to SPARC (Sport and Recreation NZ) for He Oranga Poutama(HOP) to cover the Greater Auckland Region in April of this year. This bid was successful and Sport Waitakere are the lead agency managing the administration and operations of He Oranga Poutama.
The four Auckland Regional Sports Trusts have agreed to this regional approach and all associated programmes and related funding are now combined into a single business unit. He Oranga Poutama will be governed by the RST Alliance, supported and advised by the Roopu Manaaki and managed by Sport Waitakere.
