In February 2009 Sport Waitakere adopted the newly created SPARC Organisational Development Tool (ODT) as the frame work to support club development. It provides one common framework for development in the sport and recreation sector, with customised versions designed for National Sport Organisations, Regional Sport Organisations and Clubs. Recently a sports club that occupied a small Council building on a park had to renew its lease with Waitakere City Council and as a result increase its public liability insurance from $1 million cover to $2 million. Read more

Waitakere City Council has drafted a new Community Leases Policy
If your sports club has a lease agreement with Waitakere City Council either to use a Council owned building or for the land that your club rooms occupy, then you should be aware that a new leasing policy has been drafted, and is awaiting ratification by the Auckland Transition Agency ( ATA) . SPORT IN THE COMMUNITY FORUM

On the 6 November 2008, Sport Waitakere facilitated a forum of sport club and school leaders to express their views on the current state of community sport, and outline issues/solutions that are important for community sport to develop and prosper.  It was an opportunity for “grassroots” sport to speak directly to the lead agency in sport and recreation in New Zealand; i.e SPARC.
