Sport

What we do

Sport matters. Not just to those teams and individual participants who aspire to reach the highest levels of performance and competition, but also to the wider community who take part for the sheer fun and enjoyment.

Sport has a unique capacity to bring together people of different generations, cultures and backgrounds. It improves health, is a source of new friendships and gives enjoyment both to those who play and those who simply watch. Through sport we learn about co-operation and teamwork, self-discipline and resourcefulness, and the life skills which are essential to each of us if we are to play our part in today's society.

The Sport development in Waitakere is a partnership involving many people and organisations:

Our website has a lot of different information and resources on sport development. We have information on Club Development, Regional and National Sport Information and Volunteers. We also have a Newsletter section and events and workshop page to check out the latest development tools and services. If you want more information on Junior Sport, you can go to the Child and Youth section of our website.
