SportFit
SportFit is the brand name for the SPARC (Sport and Recreation New Zealand) programme which encourages 13-18 year olds to be physically active throughout there lives. The SportFit programme assists secondary schools to fund a Sport and Recreation Co ordinator to provide a wide variety of sport and recreation opportunities for young people to be involved in.
Sport Waitakere supports the SportFit programme and secondary school sport personnel through facilitating training opportunities for Sports Co ordinators, Coaches, Officials, Volunteers and Students which aim to enhance the quality of the schools sports programme.

1. SPARC's Sport Ambassador Programme
SPARC's Sport Ambassador Programme aims to help improve the sporting performance of young people and to help them achieve their goals in the sporting arena by offering a 3-4 hour session with students. These sessions are interactive and cover motivation, time management, dreams, fair play and goal setting.
SPARC’s Sport Ambassadors have all achieved to a high level in the international sporting arena, and are well known to most New Zealanders who are happy to give their time to help our young people achieve their sporting goals.

2. SportsMark
SportsMark is a best practice self-review tool provided for secondary schools which enables them to critically look at what is done within the sport and physical activity programme, how well it is managed and resourced, why activities are offered and who for, and what policies and planning systems ensure the programme can be delivered and maintained.
SportsMark is a nationally recognised award.

Sport and Recreation New Zealand (SPARC) undertook a comprehensive review (July 2005) referred to as the Best Practice Review of Sport and Physical Activity Interventions for Young People Aged 13-18 Years.
