He Oranga Poutama ki Tāmaki are proud to be working with Poi Tarawhiti o Te Raki Paewhenua and North Harbour Maori touch to bring you the “Iwi of Origin 2012”.

Powhiri (welcome) followed by Iwi Hikoi
The AMI North Shore Netball Centre
No registrations required.
The Powhiri will commence at 8:30am followed by an Iwi Hikoi to start the event. Participants will be encouraged to walk in their respective tribal groups with banners included. The walk through Smiths Bush takes approximately 20 minutes.
Prizes available for the 'flashest' banner and most people participating in the hikoi from the same iwi!
Netball
The AMI North Shore Netball Centre
The facility is fantastic and includes the new covered area, a canteen and a function room for the powhiri and prizegiving. Poi Tarawhiti O Te Raki Paewhenua are the main organisers. Netball grades will be as follows:
• Year 5 and 6
• Year 7 and 8
• Under 15
• Under 17
• Open
• Mixed

Touch
Hato Petera College
Touch will be played at Hato Petera College. The school will also be providing a sausage sizzle with one of the local Māori organisations selling hangi for fundraising. North Harbour Māori Touch are leading this event. There are only 2 grades – Open mixed and social mixed. For full details see the registration forms

Golf
Takapuna Golf
Golf will be played at Takapuna Golf Course. This course is located across the road from the netball complex and also has full driving range facilities. A short prizegiving will be held at the Takapuna golf club following the last team returning to the club.

The Amazing Māori Race
The AMI North Shore Netball Centre
The Amazing Maori Race will consist of a maximum of 10 teams with 4 people in each team. The teams will be required to navigate their way around the North Shore to accomplish tasks. Teams will either drive in their own personal cars or walk to their destinations, this will be stipulated in the clues given at each task. Teams will also be given petrol vouchers, some food and 1 x map to help navigate themselves around the area. Tasks may include spinning potaka (spinning tops) for at least 30 seconds, performing Maori hand games etc.
Teams will start at the netball courts and will each have different destinations to get to for the first check point. These destinations may range from the stadium carpark in Albany to the navy marae in Devonport. The teams will be briefed at approx 1030 and the event will start at approx 10.45am.

Ki o Rahi
Hato Petera College
Ki o Rahi is being held for the first time at the Iwi of Origin in 2012. Ki o Rahi is a traditional Māori ball sport which is growing in popularity across Aotearoa. The venue for Ki o Rahi is Hato Petera College and will have a maximum of 20 teams

Rangatahi/Youth
Hato Petera College
In2it Street Games will also be keeping our tamariki busy with an interactive fun zone that will keep the rangatahi active for hours. It takes the basic concept of play and adds unique equipment that keeps them engaged. Check out the awesome 4WD pedal bikes, the great range of inflatables for every age, BMX bikes and lots more.

Hato Petera College
There will also be a FREE play area for under 5's at Hato Petera College from 11am - 1pm. Thanks to the Northcote Community Coordinator, Jill Nerheny.
Kaumatua
Kaumatua activities such as line dancing and tai chi will also be delivered at the Netball Centre from 10am - 11.30am.
Hauora/Health
Health Promoters will also be in attendance with a number of local health organisations present.
