Walking Group of the month

The Summerland Walkers have been together since the Sturges West Community House opened in 2006. They are a large group of friends and neighbours who have the enviable task of walking through some of Waitakere’s most beautiful landscapes. In and around the old Corbans vineyards, they gather on a Thursday morning and have a good old catch up. Grown from ten to fifteen regular walkers in this time, they wholeheartedly believe in the benefits of walking, both physically and socially. Their walks usually take them through the new suburbs of Summerlands and surrounding areas, taking in man-made lakes and quiet urban streets. They have even been spotted going past the Ranui Community Centre. They meet at the Sturges West Community House car park, Thursday mornings at 9.15am.
