Community Leaders Graduation September 2011
The North Shore participants from the Community Leaders Programme in June 2011 finally had their night in the spotlight on September 16th at the Rate Payers Hall, Beach Haven. They were rewarded for their hard work and commitment to the 8 week programme with a wonderful feast of healthy foods, and some traditional dance performed by the Graduates. It was the night of the All Black vs Japan game so in order to get everyone out on time, the evening was conducted with precision and dedications. Those that made it had an intimate evening with motivational speeches from Sesalina Setu (Enua Ola Co-chair of the Steering Group and Co-Chairperson North Shore Pasefika Forum), Dahlia Naepi (General Manager PIHC) and Lita Foliaki (WDHB Funder). They reminded the graduates that this is the beginning of a positive future for their friends, family and fellow congregations. They have taken the first step towards being a change agent in their communities, and they are now a cog in the wheel of health prevention and promotion for Pacific people and the wider community. Sport Waitakere would like to congratulate the graduates from the 2011 Community Leaders Programme and wish you all the best for your future endeavors.
Community Leaders Graduation October 2011
The Henderson participants from the Community Leaders Programme in June 2011 finally had their night in the spotlight on October 20th at the Congregation Church of Samoa in Henderson. They were rewarded for their hard work and commitment to the 8 week programme with a wonderful feast of healthy foods, and a showcase of group exercise by the team that spread the Push Play message on behalf of Enua Ola. A record 18 graduates were treated to an evening with motivational speeches from Mafi Funaki-Tahifote (Pacific Heartbeat), Sally Dalhousie (Community Services Manager, West Fono Health Trust), Tenga Schwalger (Community Fitness Mentor with ADHB), and Lita Foliaki (WDHB Funder). They reminded the graduates that this is the beginning of a positive future for their friends, family and fellow congregations. With graduates from 8 different communities, this truly was a representation of how the Community Leaders Programme has spread its wings. Sport Waitakere would like to congratulate the graduates from the 2011 Community Leaders Programme and wish you all the best for your future endeavors.
